What’s Still There, Even When We Can’t See It?

Dear Friends,

Recently, I sat outside before dawn and watched the Big Dipper fade in the morning light. I lingered, contemplating… what’s still there, what’s always been there… even when I, even when we, don’t see it?

So much of our experience in this life is shaped by our five physical senses. We tune into what we can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. I’ve started to consider what’s actually here, beyond what we can detect with our senses.

Several years ago, an urgent health situation pressed me into a deeper journey. It’s when, as I like to say, I let God/the Universe/Source/Creator out of the box I’d kept them in my entire life. That experience ignited the process of peeling back years of layers (familial, religious, societal conditioning) and helped me open to the universal energy of love, discovering what’s present and available within and around me.

Underneath all those layers, I’m wondering if love has been the thread all along, in and around each of us, connecting everyone and everything.

And I’m noticing how easily love gets drowned out by the noise of this human life. Maybe that’s why it feels necessary to pause, place a hand on our hearts, and turn toward what our senses can’t show us: a love that’s always here, even when it fades from view, like the Big Dipper in the morning light.

Invitation to consider:

  • When was the last time you paused long enough to notice what’s present, beyond what you can see, hear, smell, taste, or touch?

  • When you pause and tune into your heart, what do you sense?

  • What is your Big Dipper, the thing you trust is there even when it fades from view?

Take whichever question speaks to you, and let it linger. And if you feel like sharing your Big Dipper, I’d love to hear it.

May you find a moment to pause today, and may you sense what’s there, even when it’s out of sight.

With love,
Jennifer
